Caught my eye…
Infant mortality rates in the U.S. increased for the first time in 20 years. Is this an anomaly or the beginning of the trend? What we do know: mothers are waiting longer to have children (particularly millennials) and the rates of infertility and pregnancy complications are going up. Could this also be leading to incrementally higher infant mortality rates?
40% of Americans say they’ve never heard of President Biden’s EV tax credits, which can subsidize the purchase of an EV by up to $7,500. When combined with state tax credits, Tesla’s Model 3 is cheaper than a Toyota Camry.
15 Democrats failed to support a House resolution condemning Hamas’s terror attack killing 1,400 Israelis, and 22 Democrats failed to support a House resolution condemning antisemitism on college campuses. While the Democratic Party has historically been supportive of Israel, its younger members appear to be turning away.

Great bunch of articles Chamath. Just one small suggestion: u cld expand yr observations to include other countries a bit? Get a bit more global?
For instance India is the fastest growing (big) economy in the world. And in dollar terms, it was the best performing country in the world over the last 20 yrs. Yes in dollar terms! And it has some pretty interesting new age companies coming up--Zomato, MapmyIndia, Rategain.
As much as I admire the West ( hat tip to air conditioners and iPhones and Stallone and Denzel), the West seems to be in a slow-motion train wreck. Demography is destiny. Faith is future. How can you willingly smash Faith and family, the bedrock of all progress? To people outside it seems insane.
The future I think lies in the Indo Pacific-- India, Vietnam, South Korea, China, Indonesia and yes, in a few yrs time, Sri Lanka.
No sane investor should ignore this mega trend.
can we get a weekly wine rec to go with this please? grazie mille
